  • The Spartan Stop (USD 253) is a resource for students at Emporia High School and a one-stop shop that provides food, personal hygiene products, some clothing and access to laundry facilities for students in need. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the Spartan Stop or making a donation can contact Heather Wagner at 341-2392 or by email at heather.wagner@usd253.net.

  • Abundant Harvest (1028 Whittier St) offers a hot meal every Monday through Thursday at 5:30 p.m., as well as numerous other food offerings. Abundant Harvest has a reputation to serve until the last bit of food is gone each day. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 901 in Emporia. 620-342-7439 

  • Catholic Charities (Mobile Bus at St. Catherine’s, 205 South Lawrence) provides food assistance and other emergency services. Food is distributed the first Wednesday of each month. 913-433-2039

  • Emporia Public Library (110 East 6th) provides meals for children and youth under 18 years old once a week on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. 620-340-6462

  • First Christian Church (202 East 12th Ave) provides food and miscellaneous toiletries once a month per family. Open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. 620-342-1582

  • First Congregational Church (326 West 12th Ave) provides a free meal and miscellaneous toiletries, hygiene, and household items on the third Saturday of each month from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 620-342-6854

  • First United Methodist Church (823 Merchant) offers a food pantry for families once a month, open Thursdays and Fridays 9 a.m. to noon. 620-342-6186

  • Food for Students (USD 253) distributes to schools to give food to students in need during the school year. 620-342-4800

  • Little Food Pantry (Norton and South Exchange, 1702 West 15th, 710 Commercial) Food can be donated and food may be taken out of the 24/7/365 blessing box. At times, the box may be empty for a period of time; however, boxes may be filled at any given time by a donor. Only shelf-stable and nonperishable items are allowed. 

  • North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging (221 West Logan Ave) offers Friendship Meals and Commodity Supplemental Food Programs through a delivery service for individuals 55+ Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 620-340-8001

  • Salvation Army (327 Constitution) is a food pantry and emergency services provider. By appointment only. Bread line available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 2 pm until it’s gone. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 12-5 p.m. 620-342-3093

  • Admire Community Center (100 East 3rd St, Admire) is a food pantry that’s open the second Saturday of each month from 9-10 a.m. 620-528-3431

  • Americus United Methodist Church - Americus Community Food Pantry (413 Walnut St, Americus) is a food pantry that is open the first or second Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8 p.m., and the third or fourth Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. 620-443-5655

  • Corky’s Cupboard (ESU’s Memorial Union) aims to foster a healthy university community by providing temporary food assistance in an effort to alleviate hunger. Opened in 2014, its users benefit currently-enrolled Emporia State students. It is open Mondays and Thursdays 12-5 p.m. while classes are in session.

  • The EAT Initiative — or Emporia At the Table: Ending Hunger in our Community — is a collaborative and interdisciplinary effort to combat food insecurity at Emporia State University and in the greater Emporia community. This initiative was founded in fall 2019, supported by a high-impact learning grant from ESU. Learn more at www.emporia.edu/eat

  • Healthier Lyon County is a coalition with a mission of supporting and encouraging initiatives, policies, and resources to improve the health and well-being of residents of Lyon County. This program is funded by a grant received from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), and supported locally by CrossWinds Counseling & Wellness.   • The Lyon County Food & Farm Council aims to identify and propose innovative solutions to improve local food systems and improve health outcomes for the citizens of Lyon County.
